Manifesto
Lawyers have never been so free, nor so dependent. A symbol of freedom, they proudly display their independence, defend it fiercely for their client, make it shine through their work. Then abandon it, every morning, on opening their software. For the first time, they no longer control their working tool.
Such is the great paradox of our time. Refusing it is Oslaw's reason to exist.
A lawyer's technological independence is not optional.
Can one imagine anyone freer, more sovereign than a lawyer? For centuries, that freedom was exercised in perfect symbiosis between the mind and the tool. The mind flowed through the pen, the dictaphone, the typewriter, which in return secured the advice, the privilege, and ultimately protected the client. Then came the digital revolution, with its promises of comfort, ease and renewed freedom. Then came the new generations of digital practice management tools: lawyers thought they were becoming modern, they were becoming dependent. The tool is slipping from their hands. What is on offer? Closed, opaque, off-the-shelf software suites that ignore your particularities. Transfers of data — the most confidential there is, data sealed by professional privilege — entrusted to servers you do not control and cannot trust. Twenty-four-month contracts that hold you by constraint, by the sheer complexity of the infrastructure. Prices that double without the service improving. Running a firm goes through the tool. Take it back. Shape it in your image.
That is what Oslaw offers.
We refuse to abdicate.
We refuse to let professional privilege be a checkbox in a vendor's terms and conditions. We refuse to let your data outlive you at a provider when you decide to leave. We refuse to confuse loyalty with a digital prison. We refuse to let opacity pass for simplicity. Above all, we refuse the idea that a lawyer should trade their independence for software that works.
We assert our freedom.
Data sovereignty. Your data is covered by privilege. Your documents never leave the cloud or the server you have chosen, and the rest lives in France, under your control and beyond the reach of any monetisation.
Interface autonomy. A good tool is a tool that adapts. Oslaw lets lawyers build their own ecosystems by handing them a toolbox from which they can assemble bespoke practice management. You choose your tools. A chosen tool is a mastered tool.
User independence. With us, the subscription is monthly, there is no commitment, and leaving is always possible with all of your data. In all three cases, judgement stays human. The lawyer regains their freedom. A small revolution.
We are not offering one more piece of software, but a new approach to software. The small revolution consists in giving lawyers back control of their firm, by reversing its relationship with the management tool. It is no longer an interface designed by others, but an interface that invites you to design it yourself. In the first case the lawyer submits; in the second the lawyer creates and masters.
AI as servant, never as master. Artificial intelligence has entered the law. The question is no longer whether, but on what terms.
For our part, we do not build AI. We do better. We open your firm to the best models on the market — the ones you will have chosen — through a sovereign, secure infrastructure. AI in the lawyer's service, under their responsibility, respecting their professional privilege.
Our promise. Your tools. Your data. Your pace. Your firm. None of it should be up for negotiation. With Oslaw, take your firm back.
An aesthetic of software. We are convinced that a high-performing tool is also a beautiful one, which carries its own aesthetic and encourages careful work. So we conceived Oslaw the way watchmakers work: remarkable performance dressed in a refined, beautiful and intuitive interface that invites you to surpass yourself.
